ABOUT THE ROLE 

CrateDB is seeking a visionary Senior Pre-Sales Solution Engineer to spearhead our expansion in the United States. You will be one of the key experts leading our US GTM efforts, architecting robust and scalable systems that transform how businesses handle their data. You'll join a dynamic team of innovative software architects, forward-thinking entrepreneurs, and skilled developers who are passionate about delivering exceptional results.

Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding customers from concept to implementation, ensuring their success at every step. Working in close collaboration with our sales team and channel partners, you'll be the technical mastermind behind our most significant deals. Your role is pivotal in understanding customer needs, crafting winning strategies, and showcasing the unparalleled value of CrateDB through compelling demonstrations and enterprise-level Proof of Concepts. Job requirements

WHAT YOU’RE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Advice prospects and customers on architectures, patterns, and strategies for making the best use of CrateDB
  • Expertly articulate the business value of CrateDB solutions
  • Align to support sales with activities such as technical discovery, demos, proof of value, presentation, sizing, and documentation of technical decision criteria; working across a number of opportunities in parallel
  • Conduct and lead technical workshops, both remote and in person
  • Translate technical concepts and patterns into business benefits for management and executives
  • Act as a liaison, collecting feedback from the field to relay back to the product and engineering team
  • Participate in industry trade shows and account-based marketing events
  • Demonstrate resilience and sound judgment in dealing with business challenges
  • Proactively seek opportunities to support and mentor other pre-sales team members and share standard methodologies

YOUR SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of pre-sales experience with enterprise software, ideally open-source software
  • Solid understanding and ability to code in two or more modern languages (e.g., Python, Java)
  • Experience in database programming, data models, SQL, and query optimization
  • Experience with scalable and highly available distributed systems
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in creating and presenting compelling business cases
  • Familiarity with cloud providers, architecting and deploying applications in cloud environments
  • Knowledge modern architecture design patterns (e.g., microservices, DevOps)
  • Understanding of data warehousing, ETL, and analytics technologies
  • Willingness to travel ~50%
